damn blogging is hard to keep up with when you're on the internet maybe once a week. i just bought a ticket to visit jenna in mid-novembah

yay!

also, john harvey and i got selected to be the lawrence members of the us-el salvador sister cities national board. woot woot! conference calls once a month and 2 face-to-face meetings/year. also, emily, a sister cities staff, invited me to tag along with them on the speaking tour after the national gathering in october. it's a huge privilege (from my point-of-view). i'm very excited about that and still planning to volunteer there for a year starting august 2009. good friends are more than welcome to stay with me for any amount of time during that year.

last week i worked for 2 days on a lavendar farm, harvesting and drying lavendar. and eating yummy food with kathy and jack. kathy used to be a food photographer, and was a star in that field. she mostly did cook books and some cooking magazines. i've always wondered about the people whose job it is to take pics of meals (though i was more curious about restaurants) and i've learned that at least one of them is pretty fucking rad.

Sheep patties

Man I really have been thinking about not working at the Merc anymore. Last night we had our all-staff annual meeting. It was such bullshit. Except we all got a free Merc baseball cap because... "we're all on the same team!"

I've been riding my bike into town a lot from the Moat House which is a 1/2 hour ride to get to work. For the 4th of July me and Jennifer and Jamie and Jeanine and probably others are going with Blake to his mom's lake house in Bonner Springs. Apparently there are a bunch of crazy parties on and around the 4th there. Then on the 5th we're having a party here at the Moat House. Jona going away and Amber and Dayton are in town for a while. We'll have food, fireworks, and FUN! CHeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.

Tomstad has been staying out at the house since he's currently homeless. Also Andrew officially came back last night, no more Ecoe's. We spent one last night out there last Friday after cooking out, drinking, and getting high at Lonestar. It was fun, Donica, Skyler, and Sam were there, as well as the J's, Blake, roomies, Bob Bruce, Jasper.
